Knee Deep in the Days of Awe

As some of you know, the ten days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are known as the Days of Awe or Days of Repentance. It’s a time of introspection when you do what’s called a cheshbon nefesh or “check of your soul.”

The folks over at Reboot have used their wily branding savvy and media connections to promote this idea to a wider audience. Like a mash-up between Chabad and PostSecret, they invite users at 10Q to share online their responses to big questions raised over the last year. And they even have snappy branding:

10Q: Reflect. React. Renew.

Life’s Biggest Questions. Answered By You.

The 10Q project has been covered by The New York Times and was even posted in Times Square.

This got me wondering about the ten biggest questions surrounding our work with the Tagged Tanakh. So I thought I’d share with you a list of interrogative statements that often get thrown our way in regards to the the TT. Feel free to leave a comment and respond to any of these questions and help us improve our game. Maybe you have a better answer than us?!

1. Is the Tagged Tanakh a Jewish Wikipedia?

2. How will the Tagged Tanakh make money and support itself?

3. How will you keep out crazies who want to bash or antagonize other users?

4. Won’t user-generated content sully the brand quality and reputation of JPS?

5. How will you get kids interested in the Bible?

6. Do you really think people want to share and read the commentaries of regular people?

7. What is a tag?

8. What is the measurable impact of the Tagged Tanakh?

9. How will the Tagged Tanakh be used as an educational tool?

10. What is a lemma?
